MOSCOW'S VNUKOVO AIRPORT TAKES FIRST PLACE AMONG THE AIRPORTS BY INTRODUCING NEW ROUTES
Moscow's Vnukovo Airport was named the world leader in the number of newly introduced flight destinations. This year it has launched 40 new or reinstated flight routes. Such an achievement was made possible due to transferring all the flights of the former AiR Union alliance from Domodedovo airport.
Other airports with the largest number of newly introduced flight routes were Brussels (31 new routes), Rome's Fiumicino (30), Tel-Aviv (25), Frankfurt and Tehran's Imam Khomeini (24), Paris's Charles de Gaulle (23), Edinburgh, Zurich (22) and Birmingham (21). The total number of flights to Iran's capital have actually decreased, however, Tehran got on the list of leaders due to transferring many flights from the old Mehrabad airport.
Moscow is also leading in the number of newly opened flight destinations among the cities with multiple airports. Seventy one new flight destinations have been opened from its three airports. London (with 53 routes) and Paris (with 42) have also made the list of winners.
All in all, 2092 new flight destinations have been launched in the world this year, 57% of which are international flights. The busiest new route with 281 flights a week is between Tobago and Port-of-Spain in Trinidad and Tobago.

RUSSIA'S LARGEST FREQUENT FLYER PROGRAM GETS THE NEW TOUCH: AEROFLOT, CITIBANK AND VISA LAUNCH JOINT CREDIT CARD
Russian largest airline „Aeroflot – Russian Airlines“, JSC „Citibank“ and „Visa“ international payment system have launched a new co-branded credit card in Russia. With the tourism industry in Russia booming, the new card offers attractive benefits for frequent travelers.
Aeroflot Bonus is Russia's largest frequent flyer program, that offers its members an opportunity to earn bonus miles on Aeroflot and Sky Team alliance partners flights, by paying for hotel stays in partner hotels or car hire in partner agencies. Now customers can also earn bonus miles by using the new Aeroflot-Citibank-Visa credit card.
The Aeroflot-Citibank-Visa card is aimed at both frequent international and domestic travelers as well as family cardholders with one or two trips per year. For each 30 rubles spent using the card, the cardholder receives one bonus mile as per the terms of the Aeroflot Bonus frequent flyer program. Accumulating bonus miles will enable holders of the new credit card to fly more frequently, with greater comfort and save on air ticket costs.
The Aeroflot-Citibank-Visa credit card can be used anywhere in the world for store purchases, cash advances from automatic teller machines, Internet purchases and utilities payments.
